AvSoft, the creator and owner of Ok2Fly has partnered with Airservices Australia Pioneering the Future of Drone Airspace Management.
As Australia stands on the brink of a new era in aviation, the collaboration between AvSoft and Airservices Australia is set to reshape the landscape of drone operations. With the anticipated launch of the Flight Information Management System (FIMS) in November 2025, this partnership aims to integrate drones seamlessly into the nation's airspace, ensuring safety, efficiency, and scalability.
Australia's airspace is experiencing a significant transformation. Projections indicate that by 2043, over 60 million drones could be operating across the country. To accommodate this surge, Airservices Australia is developing FIMS as the cornerstone of the Uncrewed Aircraft Systems Traffic Management (UTM) ecosystem. This digital platform will facilitate real-time data sharing between air traffic control, traditional aircraft, and uncrewed aerial vehicles, fostering a harmonious and safe airspace environment.

AvSoft, an Australian-owned and operated company, has been selected as one of the first Uncrewed Aircraft Systems Service Suppliers (USS) to connect with FIMS. This selection underscores AvSoft's commitment to enhancing drone safety and operational efficiency. Through its platform, ok2fly®, AvSoft provides drone operators with tools for flight planning, safety assessments, and compliance monitoring. By integrating with FIMS, ok2fly® will offer users near-instantaneous access to airspace authorizations, real-time airspace awareness, and streamlined coordination with other aerial operations.
The integration of AvSoft's platform with FIMS is a testament to the power of collaboration. Airservices Australia's partnership with Frequentis Australasia and the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) ensures that the technical and regulatory frameworks are robust and future-ready. This collaborative effort aims to deliver a seamless user experience, enabling drone operators to navigate complex airspace with confidence and ease.
The upcoming launch of FIMS marks a significant milestone in Australia's aviation history. As more USS providers integrate with the system, the vision of a unified airspace where drones and traditional aircraft coexist safely becomes increasingly attainable. AvSoft's involvement in this initiative positions the company at the forefront of this transformation, contributing to the development of a scalable and efficient airspace management system.
The partnership between AvSoft, and specifically the Ok2Fly® application, and Airservices Australia exemplifies the innovative spirit driving the future of aviation. As FIMS prepares to go live in November 2025, drone operators can look forward to a more connected, efficient, and safe airspace, paving the way for the next generation of aerial operations.
